A late Saxon copper alloy stirrup strap mount, Williams Class A, Type 11A. The mount is flat, triangular and has a trefoil shaped apex with an incomplete loop on the central leaf. The front of the mount is decorated with a lion shown in profile to the right, with front paw extended out as if slashing something, and head upwards with mouth open. There is a rearward lip at the base, with two incomplete iron rivets through it.

Near-complete Late Anglo Saxon stirrup strap mount, probably of 11th century date. The stirrup is unusual with a beast's head protruding downwards from the base of the mount (23mm deep). One other example with a protruding head has been recorded from Stoke Hammond, Bucks (Williams D., 1997, no. 383, p84). Features on the head are now difficult to discern, but the cast decoration appears to depict a snarling snout with four sharp teeth protruding from the underside.
