A possible incomplete cast copper alloy harness mount of Roman date (c. AD 43-410). The mount is roughly pelta-shaped in plan and flat, with a narrow leg extending from below the wings which is circular in section and slightly raised from the pelta plane. The mount is in the form of a female bust, it is made of copper-alloy and is hollow to the rear, the bust has been filed with lead-alloy. The bird is simply designed and consists of a pointed oval head, and triangular body behind, tapering to the tail. There are traces of iron corrosion beneath the 'tail' of the object. A possible copper-alloy, openwork Roman mount of the 'trompetenmuster' style, dating to the late second or early third century (AD 150-300). The object comprises three conjoined double head trumpet shapes with a central circular piercing. The reverse is flat. The object has a mid-green coloured patina which has been abraded in places. It terminates with a large spherical knop, which is partly detached. Its base has a projecting lip which is only evident on one side and appears complete.
