There is an integral circular attachment loop set at right angles to the boss. The outer edge of the loop and boss has engraved cable decoration. A copper-alloy strap or belt fitting. The item is trapezoidal, resembling a rectangle that does not have its sides at right angles and the two shortest sides lean in the same direction. This appears to be a result of design as opposed to damage. The fitting is pierced in the centre of both of its long sides, presumbably for accomodating a bar on which the fitting would pivet. Any such bar is now missing. The frame broadens to 5.1 mm at the point where these piercings are, before tapering to 2.7 mm, which is the thickness of the rest of the frame. The item measures 44 mm on its length a…

Only a fragment of the dress fastening remains, and this is largely the hook. The hook is sub-rectangular in section and is curved, almost forming a circle. Whether it is meant to be this curved is unsure, instead it maybe damaged. The hook has also been twisted slightly so the hook is no longer perpendicular to the body of the fastening, which presumably it was originally.
The body of the fastening is fragmenary and is integral to the hook. In plan the body is sub-oval shape, however all the edges are broken and abraded. No fixing point remains. The upper surface of the body is s…
