A cast copper-alloy post-Medieval button (1600-1750). The button is circular in plan and flat at the front. It has a 'D'-shaped drilled circular perforation at the rear (diameter: 3.9mm). At the front there is a circumferential groove close to the edge. Close to this groove there are six unevenly spaced chevron motifs that point outwards. A post-medieval cast one piece copper-alloy button with an integral drilled shank. The button is sub-discoidal in shape with a convex front and a flat back. It is decorated with a central moulded pellet surrounded by an eight bladed impeller. The shank is rectangular in section and is sub-lozenge shaped. It measures 13.7 mm in diameter and the shank measures 10 mm in length. It weighs 3.5 grams. A very similar example is illustrated in Read's 'Metal Buttons: c.900 BC - c.AD 1700' (2005, 33; number 112), which was recovered from a 16th century context, but which may be as early as late…

A Post Medieval cast copper alloy button. The button has been cast in one piece and has a solid head; the front is hemispherical and the back is a convex dome. It has an integral loop with circular hole projecting from the centre of the back. The button is 13.2mm long, 9.5mm in diameter and weighs 2.44 grams. Read (2005) page 52, no.182 illustrates a similar button which he suggests dates from the mid 17th to mid-18th centurys.

A copper-alloy button of post-Medieval date (c. 1500-c. 1600). The back of the button and the loop are missing. The front is domed and the rear is convex. Moulded decoration at the front resembles a flower. It has a flat apex with lines radiating from the centre and the sides are formed by eight, evenly spaced, concave sub-lozenge-shaped 'petals'. A late Medieval - early Post Medieval copper alloy button dating late 15th - 16th century. This is a cast one-piece button with an integral drilled shank. The head is discoidal with a pointed convex front and flat reverse. The front surface is decorated with a cast, symmetrical foliate pattern showing three leaves radiating out from a central point. A cast copper-alloy button; solid hemi-spherical head. The head has a slight knop atthe apex. The reverse has a broken surface where the integral loop has since broken off. The surface hs a well developed mid green shiny patina. The button is in fair condition. It measures 5.12mm long, 11.11mm in diameter and weighs 1.7g. A similar button is illustrated in Margeson (Margeson, S. 1993 Norwich Households; Medieval and Post Medieval Finds from Norwich Survey Excavations 1971-78. East Anglian Archaeology Report No. 58), No. 103, and is dated to the mid 16th to 17th centuries.

A corroded and damaged cast copper-alloy button of early post-medieval date. The button consists of a solid, shallow plano-convex head with a central integral shank, now bent, that protrudes for 8.6mm. The shank expands slightly to a maximum width of 5.6mm. It is finished with a circular perforation and rounded terminal. The head has a small central pellet, radiating out from which are eight scrolled petals. A complete cast copper-alloy post-Medieval one-piece button (1649-1660). The front is convex and the rear is concave. At the front there are raised conjoined shields of St George and Ireland. A central drilled lug is situated at the centre of the rear face. There is no patina and both faces have traces of tinning. Diameter: 23.9mm; thickness: 8.7mm.
