A complete Post Medieval cast lead button, c.AD 1500-1800.
This button is circular in plan, with plain faces that have been slightly bent during deposition. There is a straight line etched on one face, although it does not look to be part of a larger design and therefore is unlikely to be decorative. At the centre there are two irregular shaped holes to take thread, both have been pushed through from the same side. This button is crudely made.

This is a plain discoid button with a low conical back, retaining an inserted drawn wire loop. The flat obverse face is ringed by a raised lip and appears slightly corroded with a small central dimple. There appears to be the remains of a light paste close to the rim, which indicates that this may have housed a carved, decorative inset of bone, mother of pearl, etc.
