A complete copper alloy button dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1700-1800). The button has a hollow spherical head that is stlightly flattened to the base. A separately attached wire shank protrudes from the base. The object is undecorated and has a dark brown patina. Dimensions: Length 12.8mm; diameter 10.1mm; weight 1.41g Similar buttons are illustrated in Bailey (2004, 77). see nos. 323-331 which are dated to the 18th century.

The surface has corroded but appears decorated with small dots all over the face and underside. To the reverse is small mound in the centre from which the small loop projects. The face is shallowly domed with a pimple at the apex. The underside is flat with two stubs for the copper alloy wire attachment loop which is now missing. The object has a smooth, dark grey patina. The button is cast in one piece and consists of a solid spherical head, from the back extands a complete oval attchment loop with a small circular hole in the centre. It is undecorated and has light green pitina with slightly pitted surface. A flat discoidal lead button, probably post medieval. The button is decorated on the front side with a "sunburst" motif consiting of a central pellet in a concentric circle, with 15 "sunrays" emanating out to the edge of the button. On the reverse the loop has been flattened, and there is a prominent mould mark. The button has a very light brown patina.

The button is discoidal in form and the face is decorated with a deeply incised pattern consisting of a plain concentric outer edge and an inner concentric border with traverse lines, the central decoration is unclear, perhaps a flower motif with a pellet in the centre.
