An incomplete Post Medieval lead alloy (pewter) military button of the 3rd Foot Guards "Scots Guards" dating from AD1775-1800. This is an enlisted man's cast 1-piece button. Copper alloy button. Uniform button, discoid and slightly concavo-convex but of unfamiliar style to this reporter. A central motif depicts the upper half of a facing figure with wild hair and a short-sleeved garment with its right arm raised, indeterminate objects lie to lower left. An inner circle separates the motif from a three-word circumferential legend: COUNTY FIRE OFFICE – the central word is less clear than the others. A drawn wire loop is brazed to the plain back. A cast lead alloy Medieval button dating to c.AD 1300-1550. This button has a slightly bent profile and a wide diameter, with two central holes set in a circular recess. These are now filled with soil. This artefact has a few surface marks and an even grey surface patina. The button is 24.29mm in diameter, 3.02mm thick and weighs 12.07 grams. Measurements are; length 15.8mm, diameter 11.8mm and weight 5.37g.  The shank of the button is 8.6mm long. Compare examples in Bailey (2004) page 28, fig.7.25.
