An Early Medieval (middle Anglo Saxon) copper alloy pin (720-850AD). The pin has a globular head decorated with stamped ring and dot motifs and there is a collar at the junction between the pin head and the shaft. The shaft has a circular cross-section that tapers towards the point. The tip of the pin has been curled over, possibly deliberately or it may be post-depositional damage. Nine Roman pottery sherds from a bowl, of a Gaulish ware (AD43-410). This large rim sherd is from a bowl with a squared rim and rounded shoulder. The shoulder is decorated with bands of horizontal grooves and the surface is burnished right up to and including the rim. Beneath the shoulder is unburnished. A copper-alloy polyhedral weight of Scandinavian type, in the shape of a cube with the corners cut off. The weight has six stamped annulets on its six square sides, set within an incised frame. Each smaller, triangular surface also has a stamped annulet. Polyhedral weights are relatively common finds at Scandinavian trading sites such as Birka (Sweden) and Kaupang (Norway). Cast lead coin mould of Roman date. Roughly square in shape. Lower half measures 27mm by 36mm and is 6mm thick. On three sides a triangular lip extends upwards to clasp the upper half in place. The upper half is slightly smaller to enable it to be clasped in place by the lugs. It measures 33mm by 27mm and is 5mm thick. The straight back edge appears to have been folded over rather than placed on top, suggesting the the item started out as a one-piece rectangle and was folded over. This is part of the lower stone of a hand turned quern made from volcanic lavastone from the Mayen-Niedermendig area of the Eifel Hills region of Germany. A late Iron Age copper alloy spiral finger ring dating 300BC - 100AD. This finger ring has been made so the ends spiral round approximately half way around the band and overlap, forming the rear half of the finger ring. The front section of the finger ring has been decoratively cast to form a pattern comprising three annulets with a pointed oval set on an angle in between the annulets. An incomplete cast copper flat axe dating from the early Bronze Age, from circa 2300 to 2000 BC. The axe is broken before the butt end and has a crescent shaped chunk missing at the break. It is very worn and suffers from corrosion, with a green copper corrosion product visible on both sides of the surface. The axe flares in width from 22.9 mm at the break to 57.14 mm at the widest point of the blade. It is 8.8 mm thick and weighs 122.5 grams.
