Two fragments of a silver early medieval penny of either Edmund (939-46) or Eadred (946-55), Horizontal/Two-line type (reverse type HT1; North 688 or 706), moneyer: Baldwin, mint: uncertain (Mercia/Wessex?). Ref: North 1994: 138, 141.
The coin is in two adjoining pieces, an uneven break separating the two fragments. Together they form approximately a third of the coin. The coin weighs 0.43g. 17.5mm long (both pieces joined), 9.6mm wide and 0.8mm thick.

An incomplete early-medieval silver penny of Eadwald of East Anglia (c.796-798/800), new type (see below), mint: East Anglia (Ipswich?), moneyer Eadnoth.
The coin is badly chipped, cracked and incomplete, missing much of the outer edge as well as two larger, triangular-shaped fragments.
The coin is a previously unknown type, the obverse design as Naismith E2.2, the reverse related to Naismith E4, a type struck for the moneyer Wihtred, but not seen previously for this moneyer. Ref: Naismith 2011: pl. 76.

The coin is complete and hardly worn, well struck slightly off-centre. There is a straight crease across the coin, below the centre - the finder reports that he found the coin bent and had it straightened before realising what the coin was.
