An incomplete copper alloy 'fob' or 'dangler' dating from the late Iron Age to early Roman period (c 200BC-100AD). The object is comprised of a sub-triangular frame with extended, curved points. Each side has a narrow end that curves inwards and gradually thickens to the other side, the end of which overlaps the adjoining side and creates the impression that the object is made of three separate sides. Medieval copper alloy seal matrix, circular with an off-set loop in its back. On its face is the figure of a Lion Rampant holding between its forepaw a 'garb' (sheaf) of wheat. The inscription reads *SIGILLV(M) COMMVNE VILLE DE MACCLESFELD, or common seal of the town of Macclesfield, the lion and garb being long associated with the town. A complete cast copper alloy long flanged axehead (developed flat axe) dating from the final phase of the Early to the earliest Middle Bronze Age (c. 2000 - 1700 BC). The axehead is most probably of the axe type Arreton which is dated to Early Bronze Age III, of metalworking stage V, which corresponds to Needham's (1996) Period 3 circa 2000 - 1700 CAL BC. The decorated head of the pin is cuboid in form and the corners have been cut off (chamfered) to form 13 facets. There is no visible collar beneath the head. A collection of 657 probable round shot all found in the same hole. The balls are of two main sizes, the larger making up the majority of the group. The smaller balls are possibly for a pistol. One ball more closely resembles a shot plug. The rough diameter for the larger balls is approximately 17mm, and many have mould lines. There is a variation across the group in the level of oxidation on the surface of the balls, but this may be due to varying soil conditions throughout the hole. A lead alloy spindle whorl of medieval date. The object is circular in plan and biconical with a central circular perforation. The perforation has an internal diameter of 9mm. Surrounding the central perforation are 14 raised pellets. Moulded lines run out from the perforation to a circular band resulting in the formation of seven 'cells'. Each cell contains two pellets. A fragment of a lead alloy trumpet brooch of Roman date. The fragment is D-shaped in cross-section. Only the centre of the bow survives which is decorated with a petalled oval waste moulding (acanthus button). The moulding has four petals above and below the central horizontal ridge. A cast copper alloy small flat axehead of Early Bronze Age date. The axehead is sub-rectangular in plan with a narrow rounded butt and parallel straight sides which expand to the cutting edge. It is of narrow butted form with slight low flanges to either side. The relatively straight sided body broadens to the blade, which is 2mm thick and remains sharp.
