A slightly worn gold and gemstone pendant of early medieval date, c.6th-7th century in date. Description: The pendant is ovoid and compromises a Roman intaglio set within an early medieval gold frame. The intaglio is a deep orange in colour and is engraved with two helmeted figures standing side-by-side, the figure on the right appearing to wear female dress and the figure on the right in male dress. A complete gold disc pendant with an openwork cross motif, dating to the late 6th to early 7th centuries. Description:The pendant is constructed from four concentric rings of gold wire, alternating between beaded and plain wire. These form an open ring, in the centre of which has been soldered a cross also made of wire, its surface uneven suggesting damage or extremely worn beading. A composite early-medieval gold, garnet and green glass cloisonné mount, possibly from a buckle. Description: The mount is sub-triangular in form. It comprises a gold frame, constructed from a sheet gold back-plate to which have been soldered gold strips, set edge-on, to create four cells: three hemispherical cells arranged around a central triangular cell. The hemispherical cells are inlaid with red stones, probably garnets, and the triangular cell is inlaid with green glass. Description An early Anglo-Saxon gold pendant set with a garnet, now very crumpled. The pendant is a circular disc, 0.4mm thick, with repoussé decoration made by hammering the metal over a patrix die. The design thus created consists of four simple faces, each made from a C-shape forming the brow, curved around a pair of eyes and with a straight nose running between the eyes and joined to the brow above. Gold Angel of Henry VII, London mint, type II (no mint-mark), c. 1488-9; North (1991), no.1695. Gold coin of 23 ct 3½ grains (0.995 fine) weighing 80 grains and current for 6s 8d, was introduced by Edward IV in 1465. Early angels depicted St Michael as a feathered being, as on this specimen. The obverse die of this coin was damaged, apparently somewhat worn and rusty when the coin was struck.
