AN incomplete probable miniature copper alloy socketed axe head, probably dating from the Bronze Age to the Roman period (1000 BC to AD 410).  Less than 25% of the socketed axehgead is present, consisting of the loop and part of the mouth. There is a large loop taking up most of the length od the body one end has a large flange. Approximately a quarter of the outer rim of the coin is missing, broken along the lineof the inner circle.  obverse: B G VICECOM[ITES];  'Visconti snake' (biscia) eating 'Saracen'.  reverse: MEDIOLANVM depicting a cross.  The coin appears to have been pierced, once directly through the centre, with a second, smaller hole just below.

However, the ends do not meet as they may once have done, because only two sides are cut, the other two apparently with early damage and torn, including the top edge and the outer part of one folded edge.
