An incomplete copper alloy lid from a box or vessel, possibly a canister or pyxis of Roman date. The lid is conical and missing most of one side. From the apex projects a waisted terminal with a flat circular top. From one side of this terminal is incised a parallel pair of lines forming a decorative stripe, 4.7mm wide, with fainter transverse lines or striations within. There appears to be no other decoration. The apex of the terminal and the centre of the concave underside of the lid have dimples from lathe finishing.

A cast copper alloy firing mechanism from an eprouvette, or powder tester pistol of 18th century date. The mechanism has two components joined together at a rotating pivot.
