A medieval hammered silver penny. The obverse has a forward facing bust with a pellet to the left of the crown, the legend is illegible. The reverse has a long cross with an annulet or quatrefoil centre, perhaps indicating the York mint. The reverse legend is also illegible. The obverse design suggests the coin might be of Henry IV-see North 1362 (AD 1412-1413). The coin appears to have been mis-struck, with the reverse design duplicated slightly off centre. This may be the result of double striking (where the coin is accidentally struk twice with the same die) or of overstriki…

A very worn and incomplete Medieval silver halfpenny, possibly of Henry IV (1399-1413 AD). Due to the poor condition of this coin and heavy clipping, a full identification is difficult to determine. Obverse: Crowned ruler facing Obverse legend: [HENRIC REX] ANGLIE Reverse: Long cross pattee with three pellets in each quadrant Reverse legend: CIVI[TAS] [LON]DON Although a portion of the legend is missing which corresponds to the name of the ruler, the closed 'E' in 'ANGLIE' and the style of legend and circular punch on the bust's neck supports this suggested identification.
