A copper-alloy billon tetradrachma of Claudius II dating to the period AD 268 - 270 (Reece Period 13). Reverse depicts Elpis standing left, holding flower, a long sash hanging from her arm, clutching hem of robe. Mint of Alexandria. Provincial Roman coins of Alexandria are occasionally found in England, and a number are recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database. Such find may be genuine Roman losses, however it could be a modern loss of a souvenir.
