Heavily worn Post Medieval copper alloy coin.  A halfpenny of George II, young bust dating 1729-1739 AD.  The obverse has the outline of a bust facing left with the legend largely illegible [GEORGIVS] II [REX].  The reverse has the faint outline of Britannia facing left; neither the legend nor the date survives.  The coin has been rubbed smooth and is slightly bent suggesting it may have been used as a love token. The coin has a dark brown patina. (Spink no: 3717). Measurements: Diameter: 26.9mm; Weight: 5.14g; Die axis: 6

Probably a Post Medieval copper alloy George I first 'dump' issue halfpenny. The faces of the coin are quite degraded but what appears to be the right facing bust of George I is just about discernable in favourable light. The diameter and weight also conform to proposed issue, rather than the larger second issue. Probably dates to between c1717 and c1718 AD. Diameter 25mm, weight 5.79g.

A silver Post-Medieval twopence of Charles II dating to the period AD 1676. Crowned three interlinked C’s reverse. Mint of London. Spink (2012), p.341, no.3388. The coin is pierced at 12 o’clock on the obverse. Some pierced/modified coins can come within the remits of Treasure Act 1996, including all finds of pierced silver or gold coins up to AD 1180 and some thereafter depending upon the nature of the piercing. Pierced medieval and later silver coins are however fairly common single finds and many are also known from hoards.
