Silver coin. Possibly a halfpenny of Henry VII (1485-1509), kindly identified by the finder as an issue of 1488-1499; alternatively, given the size of bust relative to that of the flan, a clipped and very worn later medieval penny which has lost over half its weight. Obverse description: Facing bare-shouldered bust with crown whose ornaments appear to touch, chin separate from neck; large bust. Reverse description: Long cross, [presumably] three pellets in each angle. Diameter: 13.1mm, Weight: 0.54gms

A heavily miss truck, worn and clipped medieval silver halfpenny of Edward III (r. 1327 - 1377) or Richard II (r.1377-1399). Minted at London. Description: This coin has been heavily miss truck but otherwise conforms with the norms of the long cross penny of the 14th century. The coin presents with both brockage and double striking errors. The brockage error is clear due to obverse and reverse mirror images of the opposite side is super imposed over the primary design, meaning a ghost of the long cross is visible over the bust and vice versa. There is additional partial ghost of de…
