A moulded copper alloy double oval buckle frame, sometimes called a 'spectacle' buckle. There is a rosette design on the knops at the outer centre of each loop, with a lobed knop at either end of the strap bar. The buckle is slightly bent but otherwise is in good condition, although the pin is missing. The file marks visible on both sides of the buckle show where it was removed from the mould then finished off; these buckles were mass-produced in the 16th and 17th centuries.
