A Post Medieval pottery body sherd from a Frechen stoneware bottle- a Bartmann or “Bellarmine” dating to the 16th century. The sherd includes part of the applied oval portrait medallion showing a man’s profile facing left within a border comprising a ring of twisted rope and then scalloped drapery. The figure is wearing a neck ruff and a helmet. The fabric is grey with a brown salt glaze on the external surface. Dimensions: weight: 44.05g. Identified by Roy Stephenson Medieval and Post Medieval pottery specialist.

A Roman pottery rim sherd from a vessel, a Samian decorated bowl dating to the mid 1st – mid 2nd century. This bowl may be Dragendorff 30 or 37; it has an upright bead rim and vertical walls. There is a glossy dark red slip on both external and internal surfaces. The slip is slightly darker on the external surface. The fabric is typically red throughout with few mica inclusions. A post Medieval pottery body sherd from a Raeren panel jug (c.1575-1610). The body sherd includes part of the decorative panel which depicts the peasant’s dance. In the scen the man is to the left of the woman with his left arm outstretched. The woman also has her left arm outstretched. Above the two figures is a double arch. The finder has suggested that Jan Emens may be the pottery but Lyn Blackmore said that without the motto below the panel it is difficult to ascribe the mould to a specific potter and also a mould could be used by more than one potter. Dimensions: weight: 13.23g.

A Post Medieval – Modern stone whetstone (16th – 19th century). The whetstone has a D-shaped cross-section and there is a circular perforation just off-centre in the upper third of the object. Part of the flat long surface is missing and one end is damaged. There is no evidence of use-wear polishing but this may have been lost with the damage to the surface, or the object was never used. A Post Medieval pottery Staffordshire Ware figurine (1770-1785). This is an tin glazed earthernware figurine depicting a seated female holding bouquet in left arm. She is wearing a blue outer gown with a cream under gown and has a bonnet above her brown hair. Dimensions: diameter: 39.90mm; length: 107.82mm; weight: 63.08g. Identified by Roy Stephenson Medieval and Post Medieval pottery specialist and Jon Cotton, Senior Prehistoric Curator Museum of London.

A Medieval - Post Medieval plaster architectural element - a moulding (probably c.15th – 17th century). The moulding has a flat back and a three-dimensional four-petalled flower with central pellets and triangular points in between each petal. The centre of each petal also has a groove. The reverse has incised cross-hatching forming the keying for attachment with mortar. The plaster is very dense and not very friable. Dimensions: length: 77.47mm; width: 50.88mm; thickness: 30.49mm; weight: 105.23g.

A Post Medieval pottery body sherd from a German Stoneware tankard from Siegburg (Schnelle) (AD1550-1600). The fabric is very fine and white with no glaze. The tankard is decorated with a moulded pattern that depicts two robed figures, each figure in a rectangular panel with a foliate border. This example is very similar to no.20 (Gaimster 1997:181) that is described as a cylindrical tankard (Schnelle) tapering slightly to neck. A Roman lead alloy oval object, probably a tessera (AD43-410). The reverse is plain and the front shows a helmeted bust right of Mars in negative relief. There appears to be a flaw, or possibly some damage, to the front of the face. The object is possibly a sealing but there are no transverse perforations for the cord to attach. Alternatively Martin Henig suggests it could be a tessera used possibly as a pass to allow entry into a military building or the Baths, for example. A group of seven clay pipes and three stem fragments. Four of the pipes have an elongated bowl at a relatively upright angle to the stem and oval pedestals. They date to circa 1680 to 1720. One of these has a maker's mark above the pedestal (H). The other three pipes have shorter, more barrel-shaped bowls; the two larger of these have a row of milling around the rim and one has a pointed pedestal, the other a large flat circular pedestal. Sherd of press-moulded slipware, probably a fragment of a plate or charger with scalloped edges. The back is flat, unglazed and has thumb impressions. The raised decoration consists of three raised drop-shaped areas, each with three raised spots decorated with a dark brown slip. The remainder of the surface has decorative borders filled with raised ridges and dots, and is covered in a yellow-green glaze.

Fragment of samian ware / terra sigillata. From an open mould-decorated vessel. The fabric is pinkish with a fine matrix, with no visible inclusions. The slip is orangey-brown. The decoration shows a trifid leaf, a figuratif motif, rope-style panel borders and flower motifs as fillers. Fabric and slip seems to point to East Gaulish manufacture.

Cast copper alloy bow brooch dating to the roman period, possible a colchester type. The bow is slightly curved, and decorated on the front with a central spine of hatching. The catch plate remains. Whilst the head and foot of the brooch are both missing. The patina of the surface is a light green/ grey colour.
