Pale grey flint oblique or transverse arrowhead, as kindly identified by the finder. A thin flake with a broad flake struck from its dorsal side and with a flat rippled ventral surface. Short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows one curved and one long edge. As it now appears, the arrowhead might have been hafted at either end. Flint transverse arrowhead, chisel type, triangular in plan, and rhomboidal in profile and in section. The proximal end has had a 'tranchet' flake removed from the dorsal face to create a bevelled edge on this, the longest side of the triangle. The proximal end has been retouched on the left side with three punches. The two margins of the dorsal face have had their entire edge retouched to make it more serrated. On the ventral face at the distal end, there are three fractures emanating from the edge where it has been snapped off. This distal end is the base of the arrowhead, where it …

Chisel shaped arrowhead with tranchet sharpened end. Probably early Neolithic. Formed on a large flake of semi-translucent light brown flint with the bulb of percussion removed but with conchoidal ripples present. The ventral face is plain apart from some abrupt scalar retouch along the entire left edge. This retouch is also present on the dorsal face of the same edge. The other edge is missing having been snapped off. The blade end has been sharpened with two large tranchet flakes and there is some evidence of later chipping and very short, semi-abrupt, scalar retouch along the the bl…

Grey flint with cortex spot possible transverse arrowhead. Trapezoid flake with broad parallel flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulbar ventral surface. Grey flint probable transverse arrowhead, as kindly suggested by the finder. Thin sub-triangular flake with broad parallel flakes trimmed from its dorsal side and with a flat ventral surface. Invasive angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows two adjacent edges, while invasive angled scalar retouch executed from the ventral aspect follows the longer of those edges. The fine working and the light weight of the object may tend to support the identification proposed, though this reporter would consider this bifacial working might suggest an alternative identification …

Grey flint transverse arrowhead. A trapezoid flake with two broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a prominent striking platform and bulbar ventral surface. White patina has developed over all struck surfaces through prolonged post-depositional exposure to a calcareous environment, but was subsequently removed by short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect which follows the longest straight edge and one adjacent side. One side of the putative arrowhead is lost to more recent damage. The object class is attributed to the later Neolithic [2700-2350 BC], though it app…
