An incomplete copper-alloy medieval French jetton dating to the period c.AD 1418 - 1437. 'Shield of France' type. Triple stranded straight cross fleuretty in four arched tressure reverse. Probably mint of Paris. Similar jettons are illustrated in Mitchiner, p.191-193 in which the Shield of France is described as a modern issue dated c.1418 - 1437 AD, probably struck at Paris. A silver medieval cut halfpenny attributed to the baronial coinage of William of Aumale, Earl of York, produced during the reign of Stephen (1135-1154) and dating to c. AD 1150, probably struck in York.  The design showing a knight advancing right with sword on the obverse, and a cross patée in quatrefoil with annulets on cusps and in margin on the reverse is known mostly from pennies of Eustace FitzJohn (North 929).
