Corroded lead-alloy circular Medieval seal matrix. The retrograde legend reads + S ' WILLI  LEVRITTE‧ (Seal of William Leverett). Reaney and Wilson 1991, 277. Within an inner circle is an octofoil motif with multi-ended petals. Set on the diameter line of the reverse behind the initial cross patee is a perpendicular unpierced lug. An incomplete cast copper-alloy brooch (Colchester one-piece) of Iron Age to Roman date (AD 25-60). Description: The bow is broadly triangular in plan, curved in profile, and oval in cross-section which tapers to a pointed foot. An incomplete Post-Medieval copper alloy dress hook probably dating to c. AD 1550-1700. The remains of the fastener consists of a broadly sub-rectangular flattened plate which has been extruded and bent over into a hook. The front of the hook is plain and undecorated and is slightly convex. At the opposite end of the hook is an ancient break. The reverse of the fastener is slightly concave. A complete copper alloy penannular brooch of Roman date (AD 43-410). Fowler Type D, Booth type D7, Bayley & Butcher, 2004, Type P4. The object is circular in section and plan, with the terminals of the brooch recurved over the ring and flattened. The terminals have a central notched waist with a groove to either side to emulated animal heads. The pin is retained and is composed of a thin tapered wire which is recurved around the body of the brooch. Diameter: 29.69mm, Thickness: 4.08mm, Weight: 4.8g The metal is dark green in colour with a slightly pitted patina.
