A raised double ring with central groove separates this decoration from a plain band adjacent to the footring. A stamped maker's mark, reading 'OF IĈ§ACRI', is contained within this plain lower band. Length: 34.4 mm; height: 15.3 mm; thickness: 4.4 mm. Weight: 3.18 g. Similar keys are illustrated and described by Brian Read, who suggests a 16th century date (2001: Fig. 47/pp.67-68, nos. 563-567). This style of key was, however, commonly made for furniture as late as the 19th century.
