Lead possible spindle whorl. Cast globular or bun-shaped whorl with opposed flat sides and with a slightly off-centre square moulded aperture of c.8mm square; patinated, with a cut by the hole on one side which might represent a tying notch. The thick patina points to an object of some age. If indeed a whorl – the square hole would be an aberrant feature – the spindle hole size would fall between the ranges accepted for earlier and later parts of the early medieval period. A shard from the slightly everted rim of a cylindrical object vessel of estimated diameter 80mm with iron staining at the top; shattered at either side and along its lower edge. The pattern of catastrophic damage might point to a shard from an exploded anti-aircraft shell, which would be consistent with its suspected diameter. An incomplete copper-alloy rowel spur of Post-Medieval date, c.1600 – 1800AD. The spur consists of an ovate sectioned neck which splits to one end forming the rowel box. The rowel is now missing. The curved arms with a D-shaped section. Both arms have been bent and distorted, but each terminate with a pair of button-headed rivets. The spur has a mid-green patina and is worn. Cast dagger hilt incorporating short opposed quillons angled in a shallow S-shape when viewed in plan springing from a rounded central block with a central trapezoid slot for a narrow thick V-section blade [7.3mm by 12.7mm], and with a shell or fan-shaped projection from one other side of the central block and a moulded rib on the last side opposite the latter. Iron strip, perhaps the blade from a knife. It is 120mm long and one end is encased in delaminating corrosion. Away from this end, it is generally around 19mm wide, with one edge straight and 3mm thick, tapering to the other edge which may represent the cutting edge. The end without the corrosion layers has the cutting edge curving up to meet the back of the blade in a rounded point. The corroded end is broken and has no evidence of a whittle tang.
