Worn and pierced copper-alloy late Early Medieval Byzantine anonymous follis attributed to Constantine IX (1042-1055) of Class D (c.1050-60; Sear 1836). The obverse shows Christ in majesty with Jesus, nimbate, with pallium and colobrium, seated on throne, holding the Book of Gospels. The reverse has three lines of text reading IS-XS/bASILE/bASIL (Jesus Christ, King of Kings). Ref: Sear 1987, 378.
