An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman Colchester Derivative Rearhook brooch dating to c.AD 40-70. Mackreth 2011 CD RH.
The C-shaped wings are completely moulded with bead and reel decoration; each of the beads is moulded with oblique grooves and a wavy line on both sides of the bow. It has a conical waisted shaft (11.73 mm length and 6.74 in maximum diameter) which sits on a circular platform, the shaft terminates with a pointed top, missing its suspension loop.
