A Scottish medieval silver penny of Alexander III (AD 1249-1286). This coin is of Alexander's second issue, minted between 1280 and 1286, in imitation of Edward I's long cross coinage. This example measures 19.5mm in diameter, 0.7mm in thickness, and 1.3g in mass. It is slightly damaged, with some edges clipped, and a little post-depositional deformation, but is otherwise in excellent condition, with very little wear.

A medieval silver short cross penny, probably of class 7c, currently dated to c. AD1236-1242 (and therefore issued by Henry III). There is some cause for caution, as much of the incsription is missing. Visible lettering is large and coarse, and the bust crude.
The coin has a wide, irregular flan, and the reverse die has been misaligned during striking. It measures 18mm x17mm, with a thickness of 0.8mm, and a mass of 1.4g.
North 980.
