A modern imitation of a medieval silver penny of William I (1066-1089), Pax type (North 858-50). The reverse inscription reads STAMFORD CASTLE rather than giiving a mint and moneyer and the weight is too high for an official, medieval issue. A Modern seal or tag probably for labelling a product made of steel. The object is made of steel or a white metal and is impressed with an illegible design and the legend; "[APP]ROVED STEE[L ...]". It has been folded in half so only the reverse is visible. It is 19.9mm long, 9.4mm wide and 1.1mm thick. It weighs 0.52gm.
