A Roman silver coin: a denarius of Septimius Severus dating from AD 194 (Reece Period 10), reverse legend FORTVN REDVC, depicting Fortuna or Hilaritas standing, facing left, holding a long palm in the right hand and a cornucopia in the left. Eastern Mint. References: Sear, volume 2, number 6278; RIC IV 383. The coin is 17.5mm in diameter and 2.3mm thick. It weighs 3.21gm.

An incomplete base silver denarius, probably a contemporary copy, of Septimius Severus, (193-211 AD), prototype dating to c. AD 198-200. Reverse: VICT PARTHICAE, Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm; captive seated before. Mint of Rome. The dark colour and brittle nature of the coin strongly suggests it is a contemporary copy. Reference: RIC IV, pt. 1, p. 108, c.f no. 142a
