The quadrans was the smallest Roman denomination \u2013 there were 4 quadrantes to an As, therefore 64 quadrantes to the denarius, and 1,600 to the aureus.  They often do not record the name of the emperor so can be quite difficult to date precisely.  It is generally thought that they date to the period c. AD81 to c.
