Middle Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy pin with globular head and an integral collared shaft. The shaft is bent once (around 70-80 degrees) and may be complete. It measures approximately 42mm from the collar at base of the head to the tapering but blunt tip. The head is almost entirely covered with punched ring-and-dot impressions. There are four on the upper hemisphere, surrounding a small slightly-flattened area directly on top (opposite the shaft), seven around the middle, and six surrounding the shaft on the underside, none of which are particularly regularly-spaced.  The shaft is …

Fragment of copper alloy, probably a small piece of foot from an early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. The fragment is C-shaped in cross-section, hollow on the reverse, and is broken at both ends (one break fairly fresh and granular, the other more worn). At one end, the front has a bold moulding, 4-5mm deep and flat-topped, which is divided into two by an off-centre transverse groove. The overall surviving length is 21.1mm, maximum width 12.8mm and maximum thickness (at moulding) 6.0mm. It weighs 4.93g. It seems likely that this is one of the mouldings at the top of a horse's …

Head and bow from an early Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy small-long brooch. The flat, apparently undecorated headplate has a sub-rectangular central panel with three flat 'knobs', all of which appear to have been mushroom-shaped, or D-shaped above narrowed waists. The bar is cast in one piece, with three cuboidal elements, one in the centre and one at either end. These are linked by D-section areas, each one decorated with two broad U-section transverse grooves or flutes, alternating with three ridges each flanked by narrow grooves. A complete cast copper alloy early medieval (Anglo Saxon) strap end (cf. Thomas Class A2h). The plate is narrow and oval, waisted to a flared rear end which is characteristically split but incomplete having  broken across the rivet holes on the edge. The front of the plate is decorated with cross hatching or lattice decoration within a linear border. The terminal is zoomorphic, although now too worn for much detail to be visible.

An early medieval (Anglo-Saxon) cast copper alloy saucer brooch, dating to c. AD.450-550. The front of the brooch is dished, with an angular and upturned rim around; this is incomplete on one side. The front of the brooch is decorated with a five pointed star pattern formed by double-ridged concave arcs enclosed by an engraved concentric line around a small central boss. There is no trace of gilding. The reverse has an in-line hinge lug and catchplate. There is extensive deposition of iron corrosion products around the hinge lug from a now lost iron spring and pin.

This sort of brooch is infrequently reported in our area, though a Roman version was recently reported from Low Burnham in the Isle of Axholme.
