Complete but pierced Post Medieval copper alloy jetton or jeton. It is a so-called 'rose/orb' jetton of Wolf Lauffer II, Nuremberg, Germany. Master 1612, died 1651. The obverse legend reads WOLF LAVFER RECHPFENGMACH which means "Wolf Lauffer, jeton maker", and the reverse reads: GLVCK VND GLAS WIE BALD BRICHT DAS - (German for "Luck and glass, how soon they break", a proverb that is still in use today!). A post-medieval copper-alloy French jetton issued probably under Charles IX of France from the Chambre des Comptes. Allegorical type inscribed PIETATE ET IVSTITIA, dating c. 1560-1574. Mint uncertain. See Feuardent (pp. 134-136) for example no. 1742 and Mitchiner (1991, 1011). The jetton is in a very worn condition, and measures 29.0mm in diameter, it has a thickness of 0.7mm, and weighs 3.4g. It has been pierced through the obverse at around 10 o'clock on the obverse, corresponding to around 7 o'clock on the reverse.

A post-medieval copper-alloy French jetton issued under Charles IX of France. Allegorical type inscribed SVBDVCENDIS RATIONIBVS, dated 1570 (on jetton). Mint uncertain. See Feuardent (p. 135; no. 1744) for reverse. Very worn, the jetton measures 27.2mm in diameter, has a thickness of 0.8mm, and weighs 3.1g. The jetton has a perforation 2.5mm in diameter on the edge of its surface. This was done through the reverse. The hole is located at about 2 o'clock on the obverse, corresponding to around 1 o'clock on the reverse.

A complete copper alloy jetton of the Rechenmeister type with a Rechenmeister seated facing, at his counting table, on the obverse and the alphabet arranged in five lines within a frame on the reverse. Sometimes referred to as 'school pennies', this type of jetton shows a rechenmeister, or accountant using jettons to do accounts on a chequered board or cloth (which is where we get the phrase Exchequer).
