A worn medieval copper alloy french jetton, probably attributable to Charles V, dating to 1364 to 1380 AD. The jetton is brassy in colour apart from a section near the circumference on both faces that is covered in a black corrosion product. It measures 23.5mm (diameter) x 0.5mm (thickness) and weighs 0.78g. A similar jetton is published in Mitchiner (1988, 174 ref. 439) which is described as one of "a very few" crown device jettons that were struck "at a time when he was experimenting with the use of new devices".
