A copper alloy, post medieval Nuremberg jetton of the 'Ship Penny' type, dating from AD1490-1550. This is an example of the anonymous issue with fictitious legend. It is a little unusual in that the ship on the obverse is sailing to the right, unlike the majority of these jettons which have the ship sailing left. The jetton has been pierced with a circular hole at 7 o'clock on the obverse. It is 27.9mm in diameter and 0.7mm thick. It weighs 2.66gm.

A copper alloy Jetton dating to the 15th century. The jetton has been pierced five times in the centre, suggesting that it was probably resued as a button. The obverse depicts a crown in the centre, although it has been obscured by the perforations. Around the perimeter is a garbled legend, ':+AVGR...AR...AGIAP....A,' part of the perimeter of the jetton is broken and not all of the legend is therefore, legible. The reverse of the jetton shows a triple stranded cross flory in quadrilobe, trefoil of annulets on the cusps. The object is green in colour and weighs 2.8g. It measures 26.61m…
