A medieval hammered silver farthing of Edward I or II, London mint. The obverse has a crowned forward facing bust with intial cross pattee, extra beading on the collar and prominent pellet eyes. The legend reads: EDW[A]RDVS [---]AN, and contains a distinctive unbarred 'N'. The reverse has a long cross with three pellets in each angle, the legend reads: CIVITAS LONDON, also with unbarred 'N'. The features of this coin suggest it is of the later classes of Edwardian coins, probably North class 9-13 (1299-1318).
The coin has been slightly bent at one edge and is slightly clipped.
