Description by Nicholas Thomas: This is an edge trimmed flake. The right dorsal margin is trimmed at the distal end and slightly serrated. The right edge too is trimmed. The flint is mottled brown in colour. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble but this is unclear with only tertiary cortex. MERCER (1981) illustrates a similar piece on Page 131 Fig 57 No L111 and L113, which he calls an edge-trimmed flake and dates to the Neolithic period.

Flint nodular end and side scraper on flake, curvilinear triangle in plan, plano-convex in profile and ellipse in section. Bulb on ventral face, with retouch along the right edge and minor retouch along the left edge. A layer of sandy brown cortex is present on the dorsal face, with retouch along the distal end and right edge. The flint is dark brown grey colour with lighter inclusions and flecks. Butler (2005) illustrates a similar example on page 166, Fig. 70, No. 6, which is dated to the Beaker period.

There is a small notch at the proximal right margin, which is retouched along its whole length. The distal end is broken. The flint is mottled black in colour. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble but this is unclear with only tertiary cortex. MERCER (1981) illustrates a similar piece on Page 127 Fig 55 No L94, which he calls an edge-trimmed flake and dates to the Neolithic period.

MERCER (1981) illustrates a similar piece on Page 131 Fig 57 No L110 and L111, which he calls an edge-trimmed flake and dates to the Neolithic period.

A seemingly incomplete cast copper-alloy leg from a post-medieval cooking vessel. The foot is seemingly missing, lost to a neat, transverse break. On the outer surface is the leg there are five low ridges, a wider central one, ridges at the edges, and a further ridge between the two on each side. The cross-section of the majority of the leg is sub-triangular, curved on one side as the reverse is concave with a deep central channel, deeper towards the break. The artefact is trapezoidal in plan with breaks at both narrower ends (W.: 28.4mm at the narrower end). It is flat on one surface and shallowly bevelled on the other which has a central flat strip. The edges are rounded. The fragment has corroded to a variable mid-dark grey/green colour. It is seemingly plain.

A cast copper-alloy fragment from a cooking vessel of medieval/post-medieval date: probably a handle lug from a cauldron, based on its size, possibly an open brace from a skillet. The fragment consists of a small section of the vessel's body which is broadly teardrop shaped, 25.75 by 17.5mm. The 'handle' that emerges from it is circular in cross section. It has been broken in antiquity, presumably before it would have bent and returned. The fragment has corroded to a mid/dark-grey colour with patches of green corrosion product.
