A coarse worked flint object, probably fashioned from a natural break to form a crude scraper. It is likely that this scraper dates to the Bronze Age, or perhaps later, due to the quality of the knapping and size. The angle of retouch on the distal end is nearly abrupt, at an approximately 80-degree angle. One large ripple of percussion is visible on the dorsal face and a portion of the bulb remains on the ventral side. It is unclear whether a small point of the platform remains or whether this object was originally produced by a natural percussive force and then subsequently reto…

Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age chert horseshoe scraper. The scraper has been made on a large tertiary flake with only one aris from previous removals on the dorsal face suggesting it came from a large nodule from which large, parallel struck flakes were being repeatedly removed form the same platform. The proximal end, with the bulb of percussion has been snapped off with deliberate removals ending in a hinge fracture. Along the sides and end is long, semi-parallel, semi-abrupt retouch worked from the ventral face. The only gap in the retouch is a large chip at the right side of t…

Two fragments of scraper. Both are the sides of larger circular or oval scrapers that may have been side or side and end (horseshoe-shaped) scrapers. Both come from large flakes with scalar semi-abrupt retouch around the edge, the length depending on the thickness of the flake. One is in black, high quality flint, 9.05 grams. The other in mid-grey flint with paler mottling and a patch of cortex covering c.40% of the remaining dorsal face near the proximal end, 2.96 grams.

A Neolithic flint 'horseshoe' scraper (3500 BC- 2100 BC). This scraper has been made on a tertiary flake and is sub-rectangular in plan, roughly 'D'-shaped in cross-section. The dorsal face has three major flake scars and has been worked almost all the way around the edge. The removals are abrupt and semi-abrupt, short and scaled. The flat ventral face has several ripples but has no bulb of percussion. It has an oval formation near one end where there is a hinge fracture. It is unclear what age this fracture may be. This implement is light grey with some off-white areas. 45.09 x 3…

The slightly humped ventral face has a bulb of percussion with a percussion scar and no ripples. The distal end has been worked over most of its length and these are low angled, short and scaled. The flint is brown with greyish a…

A Neolithic flint end scraper dating from about 3500 BC-2100 BC. The object is sub triangular in form and is thick and irregular with invasive retouch located on the proximal half on the dorsal face. The left distal end on the dorsal face has retained some of its cortex. The ventral face on the left side has some abrupt and semi-abrupt retouch, indicating that this was probably used as the original scraping edge. The ventral face is smooth with some flecks of cortex visible at the surface; there is also a possible scar on the bulb of percussion. The object was formed on a piece of opa…

A large flint scraper or knife. The tool is semi-circular in plan, pointed oval in cross-section and has a flat proximal end. It is difficult to see where the striking platform is though it does not appear to be a broken proximal end. The flint is worked around the edge on the dorsal surface. Some cortex remains on this side. The flint is mid-grey in colour with a chalky-white patina.

A flint scraper dating to the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age. The scraper is sub-oval in plan, plano-convex in cross-section and worked over the dorsal surface apart from a small patch of cortex on the top.
