A fragment of cast bronze axe. The fragment consists of the cutting edge and a small portion of the lower blade of a Mid - Late Bronze Age axe or palstave (1500 - 800 BC). The fragment is D or crescent shaped in plan with a curved convex cutting edge. In section the axe fragment is sub-triangular. The convex cutting edge of the axe fragment, although pitted through corrosion and slightly abraded by the soil, is worn and shows areas of possible sharpening. A flint thumbnail scraper which probably dates from the early Bronze Age. The scraper has been made from a small regular flake, from which the bulb of percussion has been removed. There are fint ripples on the ventral surface and a number of flaking scars on the dorsal surface. The edges of the dorsal surface has been retouched all around the distal end and partially along both sides, probably by pressure flaking. An Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged flint arrowhead. The arrowhead has been made from a flake, which was invasively retouched on both sides by pressure flaking. The arrowhead has a tang but no protruding barbs. Its small size, light weight and large length to breath ratio place it as a Sutton type (Butler 2005, pp. 162-3). The light brownish-cream flint has a low-gloss patina.

Part of a triangular perforated knife or hog-backed knife, of late Bronze Age date. The rather obtuse cutting edges are typical of these objects (pers. comm. Stuart Needham). The object would have originally been the shape of a squat isosceles triangle, with the cutting edge on the long side. In the centre there would have been an oval or rounded triangular perforation. Bronze age copper alloy axe fragment, possibly a flanged axe, 37mm long, 27mm wide and 11mm thick. The object is in good condition with a dark green/brown patina and weighs 51.99 grams. It tapers slightly in thickness and each side has slight traces of the start of a lipped edge. The original surface is very fine and in good condition and the breaks appear to be old.

A barbed and tanged flint arrowhead of probable early Bronze Age date. The object measures 23.1mm high by 15mm wide and 3.8mm thick. The main part of the body is triangular in shape, extending to a sharp point at the top and terminating in a barb at one of the bottom corners. The opposite corner has been broken off in antiquity. Fragment of Middle Bronze Age palstave axehead, consisting of the tip of the butt end. It is a narrow 17mm in width at the very end, which is also damaged. Its maximum thickness is 10.5mm. It widens over 23mm to 20.5mm wide at the ancient break. There are casting flashes worn down but not completely at the sides, sloping on both sides off centre towards the same side. Fragment of copper alloy late Bronze Age socketed axe head. The fragment represents a small part of the lower blade and cutting edge. It is semicircular in plan and wedge-shaped in profile. When viewed in plan, the sides of the body flare out at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The cutting edge and blade tips are worn. There is evidence of the casting seam to one side of the axe. There is a rectangular aperture in the thicker end of the fragment, which represents the very end of the socket. Lithic implement. Teardrop shaped in plan and sublozenge shaped in section. Hazel Martingell notes that this piece of light brown flint with cream coloured inclusions is a natural flint with pot lid fractures. However there are knapped areas. These pieces are called ‘tools of convenience’ as they are a mixture of natural and worked removals. These pieces are typical of the later prehistoric period, 1,500BC and onwards, but do continue to be used into the historic period. The piece recorded here was probably used as a pick or scraper. The butt end of a copper-alloy probably middle Bronze Age axe, with the beginning of side flanges and casting seam visible. Probably from a palstave type axe, measuring 22mm in surviving length, 23mm in width and 10mm in thickness. The butt end is squared and not sharp. The break appears ancient and worn. The surface is badly corroded with a mixture of corrosive products and encrustations appearing as pale green and brown areas over a dark brown patina.

It has a damaged corroded chisel end, with a rectangular cross-section, and a relatively rounded pointed end the shaft of which has an octagonal cross-section. The surface has invasive corrosion in places and there are slight probably recent agricultural grazes, it has a deep brown patina.

A copper-alloy awl of probable late Bronze Age date. The object is bent and corroded and is not typical in form for this category of artefact (see C. Pendleton, 2003). It is rectangular in section and tapers in thickness towards one end, where there is a rough wedge-shaped point. The other half of the piece does not taper towards the end and terminates in a wide, blunt point. The width of the tool is roughly constant throughout. It measures 61.9mm long by 5.2mm wide and up to 3.6mm thick. It weighs 7.12g.
