A medieval finger ring, hollow cast, with a roughly oval aperture at the bezel. The back of the bezel is open so that the stone it once held would have been in contact with the wearer's skin. This may indicate that the stone was thought to have magical properties. It would have been secured in place by two pins inserted through two small apertures, one at the top and one at the bottom. The external face of the hoop is decorated on the left with a double row of zigzags, which runs into an inscription: IC HOPE (I hope) In the field after the inscription the zigzags are re…

Report to H M Coroner on find of potential Treasure from Radway, Warwickshire. 2005 T552 Small gold penannular ring with traces of decorative banding in close-set narrow stripes, which would originally have shown as bands of yellow and paler gold. The alternate stripes of softer metal are somewhat eroded and the banded effect is now difficult to see with the naked eye. The piece is worn, especially around the circumference. Closer inspection in the laboratory showed that the ring is solid, and has complex three-tone striping; this is analogous to a ring in the British Museum collect…

Gold finger ring with a slightly misshapen hoop, which broadens at the shoulders to meet the bezel. The bezel is comprised of a rectangular red glass to imitate a precious stone, in a rectangular setting. Arched decoration surrounds the setting. The bezel of this ring has close parallels with 2004 T485 (see Treasure Annual Report 2004, no.369), but this ring is a 19th-century imitation of a medieval-style ring. Therefore, this is classed as not Treasure.
