Treasure Report: 2005/T8 Parish/County: Rowington, Warwickshire A medieval brooch of trefoil shape. Each part of the trefoil was originally enamelled. The enamel survives in two of the foils and is coloured blue and white. The third area has lost its enamel, which may have been of a different colour less well preserved in the ground. The bottom foil is decorated with five gold crescents and an asymmetrically placed star to the left of centre. The reverse is decorated with flowers and engraved with an inscription, all of which would originally have been enamelled. The inscription reads…

A Medieval brooch, circular, and decorated on the front with grooves alternately occupied by spheres and words from an inscription. The inscription reads: + avez tout mon coer a vre plaisir (have all my heart at your pleasure) The reverse of the brooch is decorated with four-petalled flowers and sprigs of foliage. The brooch would originally have been enamelled. Dimensions: diameter 32 mm The brooch is gold, and dates from the fifteenth century.

A miniature medieval brooch, roughly oval in shape, and terminating in two joined hands. The brooch has two facets which carry an enigmatic inscription, punctuated by flowers and colons. Reading clockwise from the pin, the letters are On the inner band N V I V N: I I M I N I On the outer band: V I I I T I: I: I - I I V L V I (?)I The meaning of this is unclear, but may have magical or amuletic significance. The two hands may once have held a pearl, which is customary for brooches of this type. The brooch is gold, and dates from the thirteenth century.

A gold miniature annular brooch, with a slightly convex section, its flat side having an inscription. The frame of the brooch has a notch to stop the pin slipping. The pin has a decorative, rope pattern collar, just before it meets the frame. It is believed that the inscription is a love token and may translate '[to a] loyal friend'.
