TREASURE CASE: 2012 T356
A medieval brooch with a circular frame and a recess to accommodate a pin. The pin has a grooved collar and is bent out of shape at about a 90 degree angle.
The brooch is silver and dates from the thirteenth century.
Dimensions: diameter 15 mm.

Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

A medieval finger- ring, consisting of a flattened hoop moulded into the form of two clasped hands (a "fede" or friendship ring). The shoulders of the hoop are decorated with a square panel engraved with four petals or leaves. The remainder of the hoop is engraved with the letters
IES NAZ
an abbreviation to indicate the phrase
IESVS NAZARENVS
(Jesus of Nazarus)
These words were invoked as a charm against illness in the Middle Ages.

TREASURE CASE 2012 T180 Medieval silver mount
Period: AD c. thirteenth - early fourteenth century
Description: silver bar-mount with central aperture. The bar extends with two arms, triangular in shape and chamfered. Soldered onto the reverse are two rivets, one on each arm. On both is a circular sheet which has been threaded on. Each circular sheet is free to move up and down the rivet but held in place as the ends of both rivets have been blunted/ flattened.

TREASURE CASE 2012 T126
A medieval brooch, circular in shape, with a recessed bar for the attachment of a pin, now missing. The circumference of the frame is decorated with three equally spaced leaves resembling ivy. The frame has a raised central ridge either side of which is an alternating design of squares and circular punches. The reverse of the brooch is flat and plain.
The brooch is gold and dates from the fourteenth century.

2012 T21A medieval mount with a central shaft that flares at one end and terminates in a downturned hook. At the narrow end two arms branch out ending in a foliate terminal. Each of these is pierced with a hole, as is the flared end. Beneath the hook is an incised design, semicircular in shape, containing elliptical motifs. The design is much abraded.
The function of the mount is unclear but may be connected with the accessories that were used to adorn horses.
The mount is silver and dates from the fourteenth century.
