A complete copper alloy Roman plate brooch in the form of a stylised bird. Unusual in form, the brooch has a central rectangular plate with central panel decorated with two complete lozenges with triangles at each side decorated with ring-and-dot decoration. Triangles border the central panel both above and below, and all were inlaid with enamel, however this has now degraded from the cells. A copper-alloy fragment of a 1st century Roman brooch, probably of Aucissa variant (native British copy) or Hod Hill type.
The head, spring and upper part of the bow have been lost in antiquity. The lower part of the bow is of thin section, its straight sides gradually converging towards the slightly upturned foot. A beaded vertical ridge is located at the centre of the bow, cut off from the foot by a transverse band of grooves and ridges. The damaged catchplate is located on the underside of the foot. A copper alloy Roman disc brooch. It is circular and domed, and is almost complete around its edges. There are slight knops diametrically opposed protruding from the edge, and these are equidistant from the two protrusions associated with the pin attachment. A Roman Period, copper alloy disc brooch; 20.85mm in length, 18.21mm wide and 7.04mm thick. The brooch weighs 4.32g and is similar to no.118 in fig. 203 of Hattatt's Visual Catalogue, and is decorated with two cells.
The brooch is circular in form and rectangular in section, and consists of a central circular raised area followed by a 5 pronged star with circular protrusions at each point. The cell between these raised areas is filled with red enamel. The star is surrounded by a circular border.

Roman copper alloy disc brooch; 12.76mm in length, 12.54mm wide and 5.57mm thick. The brooch weighs 1.54g and is decorated with a single enamel cell coloured black.
An incomplete, disc brooch that is rectangular in section and is square in shape. A raised circle seems to mark the centre of the brooch from which radiates 4 rectangular protrusions with sub rectangular ends. A cell then appears to run around the brooch until its end.
The reverse of the brooch is flat with a copper alloy spring with 3 circular pieces, a large piece of iron staining marks the side of the object.

A Roman Period, copper alloy Axe brooch; 21.12mm in length, 15.83mm wide and 8.38mm thick and weighing 2.66g.
The object consist of half of an axe brooch and is cruciform. It has two cresecentric blades emerging from either side of a shaft which has a pointed terminal (possibly from wear).
The reverse of the brooch is flat and contains a semi-circular lug with two coils of iron spring, centrally placed. There is also evidence of heavy tinning on the reverse surrounding the spring itself.

Roman cast copper-alloy developed T-shaped brooch with hinged pin dating to c. AD 75-150. The pin is mostly missing. The brooch head has open-ended cylindrical wings, these hold the axis bar for the hinged pin. A white paste/cement is visible at the ends. There is a large transverse slot through the centre of the underside of the head, between the wings, where the remnants of the pin survive. An incomplete copper alloy Roman (150-300 AD) enamelled oval plate brooch, missing its pin. It measures 27.10x22.08 and weighs 5.38 grams.
The central setting is missing. Around this central area is a copper alloy band. A similar band flanks the outside edge, though is worn and broken away in places. The area between the two bands is a single cell filled with blue. The reverse of the brooch has a single pierced lug for the axis bar and a catchplate.

A Roman period, copper alloy zoomorphic (horse and rider) plate brooch. It is facing right; 19.59mm long, 8.95mm wide and 5mm thick and weighs 1.2g and is decorated with four enamel cells all now empty.

The remaining short section of bow curves over to meet the straight foot and is slightly d-shaped in section with a flat back and convex front. It is decorated with four deep grooves running down the length dividing it into five ridges. A fragment of Roman (AD 50-150) copper alloy bow brooch, consisting of the lower bow and catchplate only. Measures 28.61x8.61x11.37mm and weighs 3.25g.
At the break (8.62x2.72mm) the cross-section is lozenge-shaped. To the front, the bow narrows to the ankle, 2.48mm above the foot 2.76mm wide. Between is a rib 2.83mm wide. The bow has narrowing flattened flanges running along both edges, emphasised by a groove. The catchplate extends 10.52mm to the reverse. The curl is intact.

A fragment of Roman (AD 50-150) copper alloy T-shaped brooch with hinge mechanism, consisting of the incomplete wings and upper bow only. It measures 17.26mm long and weighs 2.4g.
The 16.81mm wide wings are tubular (c.4mm diameter) and would have originally been c.20mm in length (one is now damaged). At the centre, behind the bow, is a rectangular notch. the axeis bar is still visible extending from the complete wing at this point.

Umbo or Tutulus brooch, Cast concavo-convex plate with six equidistant lugs set around its rim, a central cone whose base is defined by inscribed lathe turned circumferential lines, and a central boss with a raised rim and central rounded knop. A copper-alloy fragment, possibly of a Roman brooch. The fragment bears similarities to a trumpet or hod hill brooch, only a section of what would be the bow survives with an expanded centre in the centre similar to an acanthus flower from a trumpet brooch. Both incomplete expansions of the artefact have three horizontal ridges. The reverse has horizontal ridges running along the length of the artefact, the tip of the reverse has a vertical ridge which may be part of the catch plate.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy headstud brooch of early Roman date, c. 50-100.
The brooch consists of the head and upper bow only and it is very worn and corroded. The head is roughly T-shaped with a spring pin cast integral with the brooch. Four and a half coils of the spring remain. The bow tapers very sharply from the head, and a circular perforation was drilled through the upper bow to take a rivet or lug for the fixing of a separate headstud. The headstud is missing, but the rivet/lug is still in place.
