An incomplete cast lead object, possibly a fragment from a vessel or similar item of uncertain date. A large rim fragment is preserved, with folded or rolled rim, now cut into a roughly rectangular fragment perhaps as a result of re-use. The entire object has relatively worn surfaces, the front face beneath the rim containing moulded decoration. This comprises the remains of a vertical or diagonal band within which is contained interlace decoration formed from interlaced double strands or bands. The remains of a second vertical and may possibly be seen to the opposite side of the fron…

An irregular fragment of iron metal working debris. It has uneven surfaces with multiple large pits or irregular form, and has suffered from some post-depositional corrosion. The fragment measures 41.94mm in length, 34.21mm in width, 21.52mm in thickness and 40.40g. Object type: TOGGLE
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Hampshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A damaged cast copper-alloy artefact: possibly a toggle of Late Iron Age/early Romano-British date, although a later date out not to be ruled out. The piece is of simple construction, seemingly one piece with slightly expanded ends. It is broadly rectangular in plan and circular in cross-section. In this sense it takes the form of a dumbbell, the elongated waist of which is only slightly narrowed and covered with a row of about eight ridges, crudely cast. The terminals are flattened at the end but have received considerable strikes over and above this. It generally has a mid-green pat…

A fragment of cast copper-alloy metalworking debris. It has an irregular flattened base with oval shaped projection at the centre and globular projection at one end. Traces of diagonal striations on one of the upper surfaces may indicate this is an object that has been melted down for re-use at a later date, although if this is indeed the case precisely what this may originally have been remains uncertain. It measures 31.63mm in length, 20.49mm in width, 10.50mm in thickness and 13.21g in weight. This fragment of copper-alloy waste may be of any date from the Bronze Age onwards, altho…

Two lead alloy objects of uncertain date and function. The artefacts are of simple conctruction where lead has been rolled up. The appearance of both lead rolls does bear a similarity to that of lead curse rolls from the Roman period. The lead artefacts also bear a similarity to net weights of the Medieval period as the site also has medieval finds.
A combined weight is 26.6 grams.

An unidentified cast copper-alloy zoomorphic object of Unknown date.
It is possible that the find is of Roman date.
The object is hollow and is in the form of an animal's head and neck, probably that of a cow or bull.
The front of the face is slightly convex and sub-triangular. It has a slightly domed forehead, small semi-circular ears and small horns that curve inwards towards the centre. The eyes are poorly formed and the nose is an elongated triangular shape and terminates with a single sub-circular nostril. There is no indication of a mouth and the chin and cheeks are rounded…

Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Warwickshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A cast copper-alloy circular loop of uncertain date. The loop has know datable diagnostic features. It is possibly a strap loop and just possibly a very small finger ring, although the small diameter (external 18.43 mm, internal 13.4 mm) and relatively crude execution perhaps makes this less likely. The loop tapers from 4.56 mm in height to 3.55 mm, and from 3.26 mm thick to 2.6 mm. The outer surface is much abraded and corroded but the interior has a smooth dark green patina.
