Copper alloy and gold penannular ring or 'ring money'. Sub-circular cross section slightly flattened on the outside edge and either side, with flat terminals. The outer banded gold sheath is slightly damaged and split around the terminals, revealing the copper alloy core, with green corrosion stains around the inside of the ring. A complete cast copper alloy flanged axehead of early Bronze Age date. The axehead is sub-rectangular with a narrow and thin rounded butt and widely curved cutting edge. From the butt the body extends, expanding slightly in width towards a splayed blade and cutting edge. There are slightly raised flanges along the sides both of which show signs of wear and the surface of the axehead around the cutting edge is quite corroded and pitted. Fragment of Bronze Age Socketed Spear. The fragment has a central oval socket with breaks at both ends. One end is broken away in to the centre of the rim. It is trapezoid in plan with an oval mid rib. Approx 25mm from the tip end.Its widest end is 28mm and tapers to 16.4mm and the tip end socket width is 6mm. A similar example can be seen on the database in the Burnham hoard: ESS-A2E203. c. 1000-800 BC.

Copper alloy chisel. Cast chisel with a tapered triangular blade unevenly worn, and a slightly expanded round section shaft of diameter 6.6mm. At its maximum expansion this is then squared and tapered to form a whittle tang. The finder suggests a Bronze Age date for this object. This may be apt, though a more recent date might be equally appropriate, especially if the tool were intended for work with leather or finer woodwork. Suggested date: Possibly Late Bronze Age, 1150-800 BC. Length: 63.2mm, Width: 16.1mm, Thickness: 6.8mm, Weight: 13.81gms.

An unusual millstone grit tool. The stone out of which the tool has been made is a type imported into the area for use as querns and millstones. It is much harder, finer and more evenly grained, more cohesive, and paler than the local grit. Likely to be within the date range of c2900 BC to c100 AD, but probably Bronze Age (2150-800 BC) It is probable that the object started life as larger quern or milling stone that broke at some stage. End scraper worked on a flake of grey translucent flint with opaque cream inclusions. It appears to have been a plunging flake from a core as there are parallel scars on the dorsal surface with a hinged termination to one of them. The end scraper scars are parallel and semi-abrupt and work around on to the right margin and finish with a sharp notch. Shaunie found a large deeply concave section granite saddle quern fragment nearby.(632B.1). Butler illustrates a similar end scraper on page 166, fig 70, 5.

Found by Shauney Strick;A large piece of flint for this area which has been flaked off the end of a nodule. Flakes have been removed from the edge of the platform created and have shallowly removed cortex from the dorsal surface. The edge has been heavily abraded in places as though localised deliberate use for a grinding or strike-a-light task. There is an overall water worn appearance. There is fresher abrasion to the tip of the tool and this might be recent plough damage or reuse after the tumbling in water. Butler describes strike-a-lights from prehistoric to Medieval times on page 17.

An awl or piercer on a pointed triangular flake of dark brown nodular flint. The lower straight left margin is cortically backed and the distal margin is flaked and sharpened from use towards the point. This use damage continues part way down the sharp right margin. The distal and proximal ends have been utilised as scraper edges with shallow sharpening flakes removed from the straight edged proximal end and the distal cortex broken away to form a similarly straight edge. This simply made expedient tool does not easily fit a particular age. Mesolithic to Bronze age tools are found nearby. Butler illustrates some Later Bronze Age scrapers on page 184, fig 75 1-4.

Extremely well-preserved cast copper-alloy socketed side-looped spear of Acton Park 2, Greenwell and Brewis' Class IV, dating from the early Middle Bronze Age, c. 1600-1400BC. A blade fragment of Middle/ Late Bronze Age (1300-900 BC) copper alloy dagger, consisting of part of the blade just below the shoulders. It measures 46.51x26.45x2.67mm and weighs 12.02g. One end is slightly wider and flatter (26.45x1.70mm) than the other (16.32x2.03mm), and presumably extends from the missing shoulders.
