Obverse shows radiate and cuirassed bust right. Obverse legend reads GALLIENVS (.P.F.) AVG. Condition is fine. Die axis is 6 o'clock, weight is 2.46g, diameter is 22.05mm.
This is a find of note, this is a scarce type.

Oval flan, with green copper corrosion showing through the surface damage in several small patches. The original record stated this coin was plated, but the verdigris comes from the base silver rather than a copper core.

A base silver Roman coin: a radiate of Gordian III (AD238-244) probably Pax on the reverse, holding olive branch and transverse sceptre. It has a patina that suggests a high copper content and it may be as little as 42% silver. A large chip is missing from the flan between 3 o'clock and 8 o'clock on the obverse. It is 20.1mm in diameter and 2.2mm thick. It weighs 2.44gm.Compare Sear Volume II number 8627, but with "C" obverse legend.
