Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A fragment of cast copper-alloy metal working debris. It is rectangular in form, D-shaped in section and terminates at both ends in old breaks. The surfaces demonstrate signs of post-depositional wear and corrosion, and are crudely/unevenly finished. It measures 24.94mm in length, 8.79mm in width, 5.04mm in thickness and 5.72g in weight. Although this fragment has a relatively uniform shape it does not appear to have been finished as a complete object. Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A fragment of bone of unknown date. It is part of a long bone, judging from the size, from a cow or horse. With only part of the shaft remaining, it is not possible to be certain of the species. The thickness perhaps indicates a tibia. The bone is not fresh, so is likely to be archaeological, but cannot be dated without using scientific techniques. Since it was found on Marston Moor Battlefield, a date of 1644 is perhaps most likely.

Circular copper-alloy disc inlaid with opaque champlevé enamel holding panels of fine millefiori glass, a component of a larger item; it dates somewhere in the period from 670 to 900 AD (and possibly beyond) but may well be 9th century.
Cells to take enamel have been cast into the copper alloy (the champlevé technique), with raised walls between in the shape of a central cross with hollow T-shaped or stepped ends to the arms. Each T-shaped arm terminal originally had a square piece of millefiori glass set centrally; two of these remain, with square scars where the others are mi…
