An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman trumpet derivative brooch. Only part of the trumpet head survives, the remainder of the brooch now missing due to old breaks. The head is trumpet shaped, undecorated and with the remains of a possible incomplete headloop at the top and incomplete flaring sides. Two fragments of an incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type), cf. Mackreth 2011, 4.k. Plate 48. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of Rosette/Thistle form, dating from the early to mid 1st century AD.
The now-missing spring would have been contained within a straight-sided chamber, the underside of which is open. The integrally cast bow is of triangular section, short and has truncated ends. The head-plate, which springs from the base of the bow, also appears to have been cast integrally. A fragment of a copper-alloy bow brooch, possibly of Colchester derivative form (see Hattatt 2000: fig. 156, no. 874).
The piece represents the lower part of the bow, the foot and the catchplate. The bow is of semicircular section, tapering towards the foot. A vertical groove has been incised into the upper third of the surface and this line ends above a band of three transverse grooves. An incomplete copper-alloy Colchester derivative brooch of Roman (mid to late 1st century) date.
The wings comprise a half-cylinder, at the centre of which are the remains of two perforated lugs. The spring and pin are missing. The flat bow is of semicircular section, tapering to a pointed foot. No trace of the catchplate survives. The brooch measures 28.5mm long, 14.7mm wide and weighs 2.38g.

An incomplete Roman copper alloy penannular brooch, missing its pin. The brooch has curled terminals at a right angle to the plane of the ring (type C; Hattatt 1982, 128). The ring itself is flattened and the upper surface is decoration with horizontal indents. It measures 35.8mm (external length) x 34.2mm (external width) x 6.2mm (thickness of terminals); 3.0mm (thickness of ring) and weighs 6.56g.

An incomplete fragment of cast copper alloy two-piece Wirral type bow brooch of Roman date (43-200AD). The brooch consists of an oval D shaped head from which a broken head loop projects. On the reverse of the head are two heavily abraded perforated lugs through which an iron axis bar (now lost) would have passed. The pin is lost. Copper alloy brooch. Hod Hill brooch fragment, comprising a bifurcated head (one arm lost) with tubular housing for an axis bar, paired knops, and a broad and lightly reeded bow; the foot is lost. The object is a thicker casting than most examples viewed by this reporter, and is smoothed and patinated overall, suggesting breakage in antiquity. Suggested date: Early Roman, 40-60.

A copper alloy Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, Midlandf Mackreth 2011, Chapter 3, Part 3, CD PH3, dating AD 80-120. The brooch is incomplete; most of the bow is present as are the wings, but the foot of the bow and catchplate is missing, as is the coiled spring and the pin. There is minimal decoration on the bow that consists of several horizontal line across the top of the bow only.

A medieval silver brooch in the from of a trefoil. The trefoil is grooved to give greater dimensionality. Placed between each foil is a large acorn knop. The third of these is adapted to accommodate the attachment of a pin.
Dimensions and metal content: X-ray fluorescence analysis conducted at the British Museum indicated an approximate silver content of 95 per cent.

A cast copper-alloy trumpet brooch of the early Roman period, c. 75-200.
The brooch is incomplete, with only the bow remaining. This survives from the confronted halfround acanthus leaf decoration flanked by collars and down to the location of a footknob, though the latter is missing. The lower bow is lozenge-shaped in section, with 4 small triangular cells down each face to either side of the central ridge.
The breaks at either end of the bow are very abbraded, as is the break on the reverse of the bow from the lost catchplate.

Part of the bow and foot of a copper alloy brooch of early Anglo-Saxon date. The bow is flattened with a slightly convex upper surface and a small flat panel above and below. The flat panel of the foot survives, with transverse groove decoration; there is a stub of catchplate on the reverse. Old breaks. The object is 26mm long, 7mm wide, 5mm thick and weighs 2.34g.
Not enough survives to determine whether the brooch was of cruciform type (with a horse's head terminal) or a small-long (with another form of terminal). It dates to the mid 5th to mid 6th century.

The front face is relatively flat with an inlaid design formed from three coloured glasses / enamels. A copper-alloy headstud brooch of Roman (late 1st to 2nd century) date.
The wings of the brooch have been formed by folding inwards tabs on the underside of the head, forming a crude cylinder. The iron axis bar is contained within this cylinder, while a central slit would have accommodated the now-missing pin. The head is surmounted by the remains of a chain loop.
