The find consists of a gold ring with broken intaglio which is of 1st/2nd century Roman date.
Oval carnelian of flat section with oblique sides (Henig1974, 55, fig 1, Flat 1), approximately one-quarter missing, in plain, oval gold collet with lower rim and only very slight intermittent notch at top to hold intaglio. The top of the stone is broken at an oblique angle from the upper left to the middle right side. The intaglio comprises two eagles, the head and upper body of that on the right missing. Penannular ring having narrow stripes of alternately yellow and whiter gold. The surface is rather worn except for the interior of the hoop where the striping is protected. The hoop tapers to flat terminals. When tested the ring was found to be of the type consisting of a gold covering over a non-precious metal core (see report).

Post-medieval gold ring, probably French or German, rather than English. Deep rectangular clasp in the shape of bird's talons; stone missing. The outside of the ring is decorated with a cable pattern. The bottom section of the ring is broken.

Recent finds from the Saffordshire Hoard: STAFFS-BE4398, STAFFS-BE3AE2,STAFFS-E5CE97 and STAFFS-D2CD85 indicate that this object is in fact likely to be a 7th century sword hilt ring. A recent find of update (Jan 2022) is from Shropshire HESH-F29A94 and was recently reported as treasure.

Late Bronze Age gold pendant: one end of a slightly bent round-sectioned shank has been hammered into a D-sectioned loop, while the other expands into a conical terminal on which another object may have swivelled.
Formerly described as probably Roman, it has reassigned, by Caroline Barton and Ben Roberts of the British Museum, to the Late Bronze Age on the basis of its similarity to a copper alloy example in the Boughton Malherbe (Kent) hoard (PAS KENT-15A293). Length 34mm. Width of loop 5.5mm. Diameter of shank 2 - 1.5mm. Diameter of terminal 3mm. Weight 1.89g. 9th century BC.

TREASURE CASE: 2012 T170 Post Medieval to Modern gold button
Description: Cast gold circular domed button with flower design. There is a central circular boss with stippled effect, surrounded by 14 elongated petals which are recessed and contain traces of an inlay, which appears to be red in colour. The reverse of the button is slightly hollowed and has a central circular suspension loop. It is 15.10mm in diameter and weighs 2.73 grams.
Discussion: It is similar in design to a copper alloy button, recorded on the PAS database as LANCUM-C7E331 which is dated to the 17th Century. …

A 7th-century Early Medieval gold coin; a thrymsa of the York Group (dating from 640 - 660 AD), of a new type classified as type D.
The obverse resembles a standing figure facing forward holding a cross in each hand. The reverse has a central cross with flaring limbs and a lozenge in the centre. The cross is within a circle. Instead of a legend, the coin has four cross pommees arranged alternately with pairs of open triangles facing each other (runic 'd') to form an hourglass of figure or eight on its side.
