A lead alloy weight weighing approximately 1 kilogram. The weight is shaped like a three dimensional teardrop, or pear, and has a small circular hole running from the top to the bottom. It is likely a hook of some sort was attached through the hole to allow the weight to be hung on scales. The weight is 74.8mm long and has a diameter of 54.7mm. The metal is pitted and scratched and has a uniform dark grey colour.
The weight’s mass of approximately 1kg suggests that the weight is probably modern, and likely to date from 1799 at the earliest, which is when the decision was taken to…

Childs leather ankle boot and miniature bible, discovered in the cavity of a chimney during renovation works in 1982. Within the pillar of the fire place was a down-draft flue that went from ground level and extended all the way up into the loft and the little boot and bible were found in the flue.
The ankle boot is small and has four botton tastles, however only one retains its globular button. The inside step of the boot shows signs of extreme wear, which indicates that the boot was deposited in a used condition. There is a small heel to the boot which is attached to the sole b…

A Modern iron adze with maker's mark (18th century). The adze has a curved profile with a central rectangular, expanded socket for the haft. The blade expands from 34.5mm at the hafting socket to 54.5mm at the bevelled cutting edge. At the opposite end the adze thickens and the cross-section changes from rectangular to square at the butt. On the underside of the blade just before the hafting socket is a stamped maker's mark of the capital letter S beneath a pheon (arrowhead-shape).
The iron is in good condition with no corrosion.

Small ring made from plaited silver wire. Hand-made. Rings of this type have been examined at the British Museum, where the opinion was tentatively given that they may be 19th century cane ferrules. However, possible parallels include Viking dome-shaped mounts formed of interwoven silver wire, and a ring from the 'scourge' in the ninth-century Trewhiddle hoard.

A copper alloy barrel tap. The spout is straight and round and is decorated with several incised linear grooves. The spigot, which fitted into a pipe into the barrel, is also round in section. The tap has a double winged handle and dates the object between the early and mid nineteenth century.

A cast heavily leaded pewter commemorative medallion. The object is circular, with a later circular piercing at the apex. One side is decorated with a banner bearing the following inscription: [---] COMMEMORATE THE [----]IOUS [----] ILLUSION over a wreath around the perimeter. The other side features a biblical or classical tableaux, with a female kneeling before a winged angel or saint, who is possibly holding a child. The object has been dented in the centre, and is reasonably worn. It has a light grey patina. The object is possibly associated with a battle or war.

Finger-ring. This heavy ring of signet ring type appears to be cast and may be gilt-metal rather than gold. It has foliate ornament on the shoulders which expand towards the oval bezel, which has diagonal foliate motifs. It is unlikely to be earlier than the late 19th century and may be more recent.
