Pottery rim sherd, perhaps from dish or lid. A hard white fabric with white tin glaze overall bears a green stripe along its edge, and the edge of a blue and white transfer printed design featuring water on its flat base or top. A letter, possibly Q, is embossed on the outer surface. Suggested date: Modern, 1850-1900. Wallace Collyer of the North Lincolnshire Pottery Research Group kindly identified this sherd. Cast lead trade weight with '1/4 Ib' in reverse at the centre and a stamp of a letter above, within two concentric rings, beyond which is a legend of letters, the maker's name or the company name, within a circular border, which are too worn to be made out, and in reverse, but perhaps 'Q R' in one section and 'O L V' in another. Modern copper alloy trade weight from a stacking set. The weight is circular with a wide raised rim on the top. The top has two concentric incised circles within the rim and stamped initials. The sides are angled and the back flat. The weight is stamped with a crowned GR at 6 o'clock, the crown is weakly stamped or worn, and a crowned V at right angles to this at 12 o'clock. It is 20.3mm in diameter and 3.5mm thick; it weighs 5.61 grams, 0.215 oz. It was probably originally a quarter of an ounce with some weight lost to corrosion. An incomplete cast lead whistle of modern date. The whistle is a hollow cone with open apex and a sub-triangular section removed to act as the sound hole. A casting seem is present along the two sides of the whistle and it is moulded with a design consisting of two ovate elements, giving the appearance of eyes. Modern white-metal wire finger ring. The hoop is formed of two narrow strips of wire, which are twisted together into three knots on the bezel, a larger complex knot in the centre flanked by two smaller ones. The wire has a square cross-section. This ring was examined by the British Museum to decide whether it should be reported as Treasure. A lead alloy seal, probably a cloth seal, probably dating from 1821. It consists of two circular discs of lead connected by a narrow strip that is folded so that the discs are pressed together. Cut sheet copper alloy shoe or clog clasp (male fitting), which would have been used with a similar hasp (female fitting) to secure a wooden shoe (overshoe) to the foot. The clasp is rectangular with a small incomplete sub-rectangular projection (hook) on one edge and an irregular lozenge shaped projection at the other. The small hook is abraded and incomplete; at the opposite end, the projection is broadly shaped like an anchor and was used to secure the clasp to the fabric. A complete cast copper alloy barrel tap of late post-medieval to modern date. The barrel tap has a circular sectioned spigot which tapers towards the end for fitting into the barrel. A silver brooch of probable modern date. Approximately 305 of the brooch has been broken away by an old break. It is broadly circular in plan with five lugs emerging from the edge. There is molded decoration on the front surface of the brooch in the form of a central knot surrounded by a ring of smaller knots. A broken hinge can be seen on the undecorated reverse. The decorative style and form of the hinge suggest a modern date, probably c.1800-1900.
